Grenfell Tower Feature. On Monday 20th June, photojournalist Sam Boal was assigned by RollingNews.ie, to cover Taoiseach Leo Varadkar's visit to London to meet British Prime Minister Theresa May at No 10 Downing Street in the afternoon. That morning he travelled to the site of the Grenfell Tower fire disaster, which had occurred six days earlier. These images are a record of what he witnessed during those few hours at the site. The Grenfell Tower fire occurred on 14 June 2017 at a 24-storey, 220-foot (67 m) high tower block of public housing flats in North Kensington, west London England. The Metropolitan Police Service have said that 74 people are missing and presumed dead with a further five dead persons which have been formally identified bringing the presumed total number of deaths to 79. This is the deadlist fire since 1900. Emergency services received the first report of the fire at 00:54 local time and it burned for around 24 hours until finally extinguished. The tower contained 127 flats, 227 bedrooms at the time of the fire.The speed at which the fire spread is believed to have been aided by the buildings recently added exterior cladding.
